How to use HTML Entity Encoder / Decoder

  1. Paste text or entity references.
  2. Choose Encode or Decode.
  3. Convert and copy the plain-text result.

Encoding and preview behavior

Encoding replaces ampersands, angle brackets and quotes with entity references. Decoding performs one HTML-entity decoding pass while retaining literal markup as text. The result is displayed in a textarea, not executed as HTML.

Entity encoding is not a universal sanitizer for JavaScript, CSS or URL contexts. Nested encoding may need separate, deliberate decoding passes.

Privacy and browser support

Your input is handled in this browser tab. Selected files and entered text are not sent to Varento Tools by this tool. Some specialized libraries load only when needed. A browser with JavaScript and sufficient device memory is required. Read our local-processing explanation.
