How the result is calculated
The formula is (new − old) ÷ old × 100. A change from 80 to 100 is +25%; the reverse is −20% because its original baseline is 100. Results include the absolute numerical difference.
A zero original value has no defined relative percentage change. Negative baselines use the same signed formula and may need context before interpretation.
