Format behavior and important limits
The converter uses JSON-compatible scalar rules and rejects duplicate mapping keys. Aliases are traversed with a node budget before producing JSON. Cyclic structures, non-finite numbers and unsafe integer values are rejected rather than silently changed.
JSON has no YAML comments, anchors or custom tags. YAML mapping keys are represented as strings. Ordinary decimal values still use JavaScript floating-point precision; quote precision-sensitive numeric identifiers.
Example: convert a YAML configuration to JSON
A nested mapping becomes a JSON object and a YAML sequence becomes an array. Quoting an identifier preserves its leading zeroes.

Duplicate mapping key
Two name: entries in the same mapping are rejected. Remove the duplicate or give the values distinct keys; this converter does not silently choose the last value.
A value changed type
Use true or false for booleans. Under the JSON scalar schema used here, yes and no remain strings. Quote identifiers, dates and precision-sensitive numbers when they should remain text.
Multiple documents or a cyclic alias
Paste one YAML document at a time. Recursive aliases cannot become ordinary JSON and are rejected; bounded non-cyclic aliases are expanded. Comments do not appear in JSON.

Is this tool free without daily usage limits?
Yes. Varento Tools has no signup, accounts, usage-count caps, paywalls or watermarks. Device memory, format support and browser restrictions can still limit technically demanding files.
Why was an alias or number rejected?
An alias graph may expand too much or contain a cycle. JSON also cannot safely represent non-finite numbers or integers outside JavaScript’s safe integer range in this converter.
Is my input uploaded?
No. This utility processes input in the current browser tab. The tool code does not upload your files, tokens or text to a processing API.
