PNG cannot restore detail lost in a JPEG
PNG stores image pixels with lossless compression. Converting an existing JPEG to PNG can be useful for an editor or workflow that expects PNG, and avoids another lossy JPEG save at this conversion step. It does not undo artefacts, blur or detail loss already baked into the JPEG.
A PNG copy of a photograph is often much larger than its JPG source. That is expected, not a conversion failure. The result panel shows both sizes so you can decide whether the new format is worthwhile. For a smaller photo attachment, use Compress JPG instead.
Converting a JPEG to PNG also does not remove its background or magically create transparent areas. The image retains its rectangular photo pixels. Dimensions remain the same. As with other canvas-based exports, source EXIF data and embedded profile information are not copied, and an archived original is still useful.

Is this tool free without daily usage limits?

Does JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. It preserves the decoded appearance in a different format; it cannot reconstruct lost JPEG information.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?
No. Format conversion is not background removal. Existing photo pixels remain opaque.
Why is the PNG larger?
PNG and JPEG use different compression. PNG often needs more bytes for detailed photographs.
Are JPG and JPEG both accepted?
Yes. Both extensions refer to JPEG images. Select multiple files for batch conversion.
