Paste two versions

How to compare text

  1. Paste the original text on the left and the new version on the right.
  2. Choose whether spaces within each line should be normalized.
  3. Run the comparison and review additions and removals side by side.
  4. Edit the input and compare again, or clear both fields.

Find exact changes without sending your text away

The comparison works line by line. A changed line appears as a removal from the original and an addition to the new version. Line labels and plus/minus signs supplement the highlight colours. It compares literal text, not meaning or authorship.

The whitespace option trims each line and treats runs of spaces or tabs as one space. Blank-line additions and deletions still count. Line endings are normalized so Windows and Unix newline conventions can be compared together.

Very large or heavily changed inputs may exceed the comparison time budget on your device. The work runs in a worker so it can stop without freezing the page. Compare smaller sections if necessary. No claim is made that similar text is plagiarism or that different text changes meaning.

Privacy and browser support

Your input is handled in this browser tab. Selected files and entered text are not sent to Varento Tools by this tool. Some specialized libraries load only when needed. A browser with JavaScript and sufficient device memory is required. Read our local-processing explanation.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tool free without daily usage limits?

Yes. Varento Tools has no signup, accounts, usage-count caps, paywalls or watermarks. Device memory, format support and browser restrictions can still limit technically demanding files.

Can I compare code?

Yes. Paste plain-text code. The tool does not execute it or understand its programming language.

Does this compare Word files?

No. Copy the text into the fields; rich document formatting is not compared.

Does ignoring whitespace hide every blank line?

No. It normalizes whitespace inside each line; blank-line additions and removals remain visible.

Why does a changed line appear twice?

One row marks the original line as removed and another marks the new line as added.
