A compatible copy of an iPhone photo
HEIC is commonly used for iPhone still photos, while JPG is accepted by many websites, editors and messaging workflows. This tool decodes a supported HEIC/HEIF image and encodes a JPEG copy. Renaming a .heic file to .jpg would not perform that conversion.
The source stays unchanged. The JPEG output is lossy and does not copy the original EXIF, GPS or camera metadata. Special HEIF features such as depth maps, Live Photo video, HDR gain maps, image sequences and every codec profile are not promised. The converter exports one still image, not a Live Photo or a complete burst.
Decoding needs browser memory and can be slower for large phone photos. A damaged file or unsupported HEIF variant may fail; the tool should show an error rather than a fake download. A basic 1600 × 1200 HEIC test chart has been converted and its JPEG output checked in desktop Chromium. That test is not a guarantee for every iPhone model, profile or browser.
After conversion, adjust the JPEG file size with Compress JPG.

Frequently asked questions
Is this tool free without daily usage limits?
Yes. Varento Tools has no signup, accounts, usage-count caps, paywalls or watermarks. Device memory, format support and browser restrictions can still limit technically demanding files.
Can I use this for iPhone photos?
Yes, for HEIC/HEIF still images supported by the bundled decoder. Live Photo video and all advanced HEIF features are not converted.
Are photos uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser. Decoder code is fetched from a CDN when you start; your image is not included in that request.
Does it retain EXIF or GPS?
No. The JPEG export does not copy the original metadata. Identifying details visible in the image remain.
Why might a file fail?
A corrupted file, unsupported codec feature or insufficient device memory can prevent decoding. Try another photo or a desktop device.
